Weekend Adventures

First "Block Party"

So Friday was the first party of MUA. It was supposed to be a welcome back party for everyone and it was held at Turtle Bar by Pinney's Beach. We thought we would check it out, Kyle said that he heard it was a great way to meet people... HAHA!
I won't give to many details, but it's hard to get to know people at a bar...on a beach...after midnight...
It was interesting to go to town at night, not sure how often I will do that though. We are also not sure about going to another one of these "Block Parties". Apparently they happen after each exam which the students have every 3 weeks. Yikes!! Our friends asked us if we wanted a picture of just the two of us and Kyle and I looked at each other and both agreed not... Haha. So I don't have pictures from that night. Sorry guys, it wouldn't have been pretty anyway...I felt like I was back in university. So I'm sure a lot of you understand that... but I guess when all they do is study,  they need a break ???

Anyway, my best friend Ashley came into town this weekend! Yay! Our first visitor. I was proud of myself that I was able to arrange a ride for her from St. Kitts with the driver we had when we came in Daisy. One thing I did forget was to give Ashely my address so she could tell the customs people...oops :) but she figured it out haha. She was going to take the water taxi over to Oualie Beach so my friend Madison and I spent the afternoon at the beach waiting for her. Ashley's flight was delayed by an hour and I'm sure if I wasn't laying on the beach I would have been more concerned. So instead I took some selfies :)
Here are some pictures of the beach, it does have an awesome view of St. Kitts.

She eventually made it to the island, and being the outgoing type made friends with one of the people on the boat who happened to be a new professor at MUA. He is from Calgary, and had never been to Nevis before so we helped him out a little bit. Unfortunately we weren't able to bum a ride from his driver who works for the school, Charlene, but I did have a bus driver's number from the school, Anthony. He is the best!!! He drove us home from the party the other night and he takes you right to your door. He is an awesome guy to know around here, the couple times I have called him he actually comes early or on time. #islandtime

We were all so hungry by the time we got back, and Kyle and I have been wanting to find this restaurant called Angie's. We did some investigating and found that it is located above the student dorms near MUA. The three of us and another couple walked to Angie's. It was a little creepy at night but we found it and it was so worth it!! Kyle finally found a great burger!! It was a bit of wait but it looked like she was closing for the night so I'm thankful she let us in. We all enjoyed our burgers, it was awesome. It was only about $12 Canadian for Kyle to get a bacon cheeseburger with French fries and a coke! Amazing!! We headed back to our apartment and the sky was so clear we were able to see so many stars, it was beautiful!

Ashley brought Kyle some much needed supplies ...chips and chocolate. Haha.
She also brought the air mattress! Kyle didn't look to impressed about setting it up ...

So our first guest settled in and our plan was to hit the beach bright and early the next day...
We woke up to a nice breeze...and rain...and clouds...and then more rain and sun and then clouds. I was so upset!!! It has barely rained since we have been here and today it actually stuck around!! Ashley was a great sport about it though and so we decided to make an adventure and head into town and get some groceries.
We managed to get a bus, but we had to walk almost 30 min before one drove by. We went to the bank and then walked to the IGA. Of course, the weather was nicer. It did get pretty hot, I was able to get a decent shot of the volcano on Nevis.
There were a lot of clouds, but there was a gas station in my way and it looked ugly in front of the volcano. Haha. If you haven't figured it out, I'm not a photographer.

Getting home from the grocery store kinda sucked. Anthony, our handy bus driver was not available and we didn't really see any buses around. All the numbers I had for a cab weren't working so my outgoing friend Ashley asked someone who works at IGA to call us a cab. So Ozzie came to pick us up, and all I will say is that he knows more about Canadian history than Ashley and I combined!! Haha he was super nice, and gave us some history of the island too. IGA is pretty far from where we live and the cost was $25 US. Kyle said we got ripped off, but Ozzie said we got the student discount. So I don't know who is right. But I was just glad to make it home. So we made steak for dinner with homemade French Fries! Yum!!

So Ashley and I are hoping to hit the beach tomorrow, and we are hoping to make it to St. Kitts during the week. Ozzie said the best beach to visit is Pinney's Beach. So we will definitely give that one a try too. Hopefully the weather is nicer!
Good night everyone!

Weekly Adventures

January 8, 2014

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to give you an update of my adventures this week!
I went to the beach for a day with the other spouse that is here. Her and I have lots in common, and it was nice to hang out! We are both in similar situations and know how each other feel, so it was nice to be able to talk to someone. We went to Nisbet Beach again, and it was very empty so we were able to sit on the chairs which was a lot more comfortable than the sand. I was proud of us for being able to flag down a bus, and make it there and back safely. Oh and I didn't get sunburned!! Yay me! Making progress!!

This week, I also was able to get a sim card. Kyle got one through the school, but they wouldn't give me one, they said we had to go to town and ask for one at the "Lime" store. So we headed downtown with some other students, most of us had to go to the bank so we stopped there first. Luckily Kyle and I have a ScotiaBank Account so we didn't get charged for using the ATM. I heard someone else say that the ATM fee was $13 Canadian! Yikes!

We went to the Lime store and had to wait a bit, but we were able to get the card no problem. It costs $25EC, seemed reasonable enough to me.

We had our first power outage last night. It was around 4 am, and we only noticed because the UPS (uninterruptible power supply) Kyle purchased started beeping. We heard someone else's beep too haha. It only lasted about 5 minutes before the back up generator kicked in. I'm not for sure how long it was actually out for.

Today I was able to get connected with the person who runs the Spouses of Students Group (S.O.S). My friend and I met him in the morning and he was able to take us around town. It was very overwhelming! He had a lot of good information to share with us, it was just a lot to take in.

He said that there are a few other people in the S.O.S group but most of them just want to do their own thing. That was kind of disappointing to hear. I'm hoping that my friend and I can make it a little better.

So off to town we went, we stopped at 3 different grocery stores! Now that I have been to most of the supermarkets, this is how I would rank them:
1. IGA
2. Best buy in Gingerland
3. Ram's Groceries (Good for fresh vegetables and fruits)
4. Best Buy in Charlestown

The Best buy in Gingerland, is two stories. The second floor reminded me of a walmart/target. I bought a mat for our shoes, it cost 21EC. You can find some pretty useful items if you know what to look for.

We also learned that most grocery stores get their shipments in on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so those are the best days to go shopping. So helpful to know that!

He then took us to the local Butcher shop. It's kind of a far drive, and I couldn't even tell you where it is. Oh and apparently it's not called a Butcher down here, they call it an Attribor or something...haha.

Anyway, I managed to buy some a 12 pack of steaks for 30EC. They didn't have any ground beef or burgers, but maybe next week.

We went to the hardware store in town and I was able to get my key cut so Kyle and I could both have a copy. It cost 11EC to have that done.

Some other things he recommended was to get a car, but I have also heard others say don't. So I guess it's more personal preference. He also said to get an island bank account, but I have also heard the opposite. Maybe that's why we had a hard time finding information about the island before coming here because a lot of this stuff is personal preference. This guy was also saying that it is really about the relationships you build with the locals. I mean he brought the butcher a muffin! haha, I will have to get used to doing stuff like that.

Start baking for the locals haha.

We went to this guys apartment so he could drop off his groceries before they all melted and we met his landlord. He has been one of the nicest people I have met so far!! He was born in the UK but his parents are from Nevis, and recently moved back here. He fixes and sells bikes, and seemed very willing to help myself and my friend get a bike! So hopefully we can make that work because I would love to be able to bike to the beach.

So it was a pretty busy day today, and I did get a lot of info, I can't even remember it all! When I got home, I tried to make a list of meals to have each day, because walking through the groceries stores, it was overwhelming, the prices hard to convert in my head, and even though it may seem low to me, it may not be. So I guess this will just take some getting used to. I hope to buy relatively the same stuff each time I shop, that seems the easiest way to handle this.

Anyway, moving on to some good news, we have our first visitor coming!! YAY!! They arrive on Saturday and are staying for the week! They were able to get a really good deal on flights, round trip direct flight to St. Kitts from Toronto cost $486!!! So, for all you people wanting to visit, there is hope!! haha :) I know how to get to the beach, and I know how to get some food, so we could manage :)

Tomorrow night there is supposed to be a "Welcome Back" party at some bar and grill around here. I'll let you know how that goes.

I'm not sure when the next time I will be able to post is because we will be hosting our guest, and I also start my course on Monday. I'll do my best to keep you guys in the loop.

I don't have many pictures today, just some from the beach earlier in the week, I can never get enough of the blue water and palm trees :) Definitely beats -30!!! Sorry guys..stay warm!

Miss you all!!

Orientation Day

Monday January 5, 2014

So today was the big day! Getting an official tour of the campus and meeting the rest of the students in Kyle's class, Man...I learned a lot today haha :S

We arrived to the main classroom just before 8:30 am. Picked a seat near the back of the class, as most people were already eagerly waiting and taking up the front rows. I liked the back near the windows because I could see the ocean right outside :)
We met a bunch of the Professors who were all wearing white shirts. I don't remember anyone's name because ALL of them were so soft spoken it was hard to hear what they said. However the room was air conditioned, so that was nice for Kyle.

I won't bore you guys with all the specific details, but we were stuck in that room until almost noon talking about ways to study, and what not to do. Here are some of the main points:
The Executive Dean is from Vancouver -fan of the Canucks

Half students from US half from Canada- most from Ontario

Another professor looked like a grumpy old man and I couldn't tell if he was being serious or funny. I laughed at what he talked about but I'm sure if I was a student I would be freaked out.
He talked about socialization protocols.
Don't date other students!
Don't drink!
Don't do drugs! "It's time to be adults now"
Go to class!
I didn't feel like an adult at all the way he was talking to us. I guess that's why I laughed a lot.
I'll stick to going to the beach :)

The next professor came in a little softer to us, tried to ease everyone into the program, saying that the professors are there to help you in every way possible. He even had slides saying we need to be nice to each other...haha man, I felt bad for Kyle, because I really don't think that's what he expected from orientation.

After being lectured on the Do's and Don'ts of campus life and oh yes random drug testing will be performed on students, it was time to fill out some forms.
That's when things got interesting. Kyle and I predicted a lot of people wouldn't be prepared, and we were right. So many questions people had.
My advice for new students, read the information package when you get accepted! It tells you exactly what forms you need with you on the island. You need 2 passport sized photos, you do need a criminal record check. If you are a spouse, you need all that stuff too.
Then a police officer showed up to talk to us about laws...it was kinda funny when she was talking about speed limits. She says the island is 20mph, but we have definitely been in cars where they are driving 70mph
I did learn to not rent a car with a P for the license plate. She tried to explain the process of buying a car, it seemed very confusing and when we talked to the students from Med 5, most of them have survived without a car just fine, so for now we won't be getting one.
Over all...don't get arrested.

Then the students from med 5 showed up and answer questions students had. A lot of the questions were about things that would happen in a few months from now. Seemed unnecessary to me. And of course the students who had their parents with them were asking funny questions. The question period took a long time, and parents were asking about ways to study. I know they are concerned for their child I just don't think how they studied when they went to school will be the same for everyone. One person was from Hamilton.

Anyway then we went on a tour around the campus, it was very pretty. Saw the different buildings, went to the cafeteria and had a free meal. It was yummy, seemed like some real Caribbean food.
During lunch we chatted to the seniors and got some insight to a few things. They seemed pretty chill haha. One thing that seemed important is that when choosing a place to live around campus they said not to live in  the Serenity buildings. Apparently the land lord tries to scam people a lot and get into a bunch of law suits with them. We live in the Prudential Buildings in Potworks, and the Serenity Building is right next to us.
They also said a lot about being in pre med and that Kyle will have a leg up on everyone. So I'm happy for him with that. I won't go into specifics because most of the stuff doesn't affect first years anyway. My favourite part though was when we split into groups, one girl was like "Well there shouldn't be any Pre-Med students in our group so we don't have to talk about  that" then Kyle said, "actually we are" and the girl says "then you should be in the other group", "Nope, the Pre-Med group is so large so they told us to split up a bit."
I mean come on, does it even matter? You went to one different building for where the Pre-Med students go, and it was on the way to the cafeteria. My goodness!

So I guess that's my first rant ahaha. It felt good to get it out. Thanks for letting me share!

After lunch we headed to wait in a line so Kyle could get his photo ID and set up his computers. While in line we chatted to some fellow Canadians, one guy from BC who is as tall as Kyle!! And another couple of guys from Ottawa. The guy from BC lives in the same area as us. So hopefully Kyle has a good study buddy.

I chatted to the other couple we met yesterday a bit and it seems like we are the only couples that are starting this semester. However there is a Spouses of Students group on campus and I introduced myself to the guy who runs it so hopefully I can get connected with them.

Sitting in the computer lab while Kyle sets up his stuff. We got a lecture from the IT guy.
Don't use up our bandwidth!!
Not enough Internet to be downloading. Hehe...kinda funny.
Someone just asked what bit torrent is... I'm sitting here looking around at some of these people who are claiming they want to be doctors and take care of me when I'm sick. I just hope they are able to do that, and based on their lack of common sense I have seen so far... I'm worried.
I'm so proud and thankful that Kyle has had some real life experience before coming here..I know he is going to do well. I know I may not be as smart as these people, but I feel that I have some life experience that I know how to register a computer and set up wifi...
Being taught how to wrap computer cords...wow...
Okay another mini rant again, I couldn't resist.

So I learned 3 things today
1. Be nice to each other
2. Don't get arrested
3. Study

So I guess if you are a new student reading this, those are my take aways from Orientation. Maybe if you ask a real student, they might say something different, but as a spouse that's what I learned.

Here are the pics from today:

In the computer lab they made the students practice taking tests on the computers. Yay, he aced it!!

That building is the cafeteria

That's the main campus building with most of the classrooms. I love all the palm trees :)

These little guys greeted us when we got home today...doing it...lol

Kyle is currently doing some Pre-Reading for class tomorrow.
Good job Kyle!

I guess I should make him some dinner ;)

Bye for now!

Meeting New Friends!

Hey everyone,

I have had a busy couple of days, so I am just catching up now! This post is about our adventure into town yesterday, and I have another one about Orientation Day. So check it out, I have some photos posted as well :)

Sunday January 4, 2015

We went into town with some people yesterday. I was starting to feel a bit stir crazy, we have been here almost a week, and I have felt kinda cooped up in our apartment lately and told Kyle I was ready to meet people, so he checked the Facebook group he is apart of and luckily someone posted a message!

The one guy was asking if people wanted to head into town. Now it was a Sunday, and some people were saying that not much is happening and that cabs and buses weren't running. Which I have read that, so we starting walking towards Nisbet and managed to grab a bus to take us into town. We also saw lots of taxis and buses, so I guess they do run on Sundays. The town was really dead compared to when we were there last week. It seems like they take "day of rest" pretty seriously. We drove by some churches and they seemed busy.

So some of the people we met were a married couple who live in the building next to us. From Minnesota, the guy is attending school, and his wife is along for the ride. Yay!! Hopefully I have a new friend! They are close in age to us, and she is also writing a blog too :)

Another couple from Dallas Texas, they are a bit older, and have 3 kids. The wife is attending and the guy is going back home in a couple weeks.

Then 2 single students, one from New Brunswick. He is also in the pre -med program, everyone else is starting med 1.

So we made it to town and walked around, the other students needed to get groceries. We learned that Kyle and I had it pretty good coming to the island early. The other young couple had to get there stuff that they shipped, so hopefully they can get it tomorrow.

We also talked about the bank situation with the guy from NB and he seemed to have a very similar experience with TD so that was interesting. For the most part everyone seemed to be in the same position as us, seeing that the island isn't very busy right now, wondering where people are and trying to figure out ways to get around on the island.

So since the town wasn't that busy, nothing was really open so we walked around and managed to find a restaurant near Pinney's Beach. It also started to rain on us. Which I was not prepared for, luckily being the Caribbean it only lasted about 5 min. So we headed into "Seafood Madness" and I had fish and chips and Kyle was able to have bacon cheeseburger. Yay! The food was awesome, he even got real gingerbeer. I had a sip and my goodness did it burn haha. But Kyle loved it. The price for our meals was about 20 US. Not bad. Some of the other students who ate at other restaurants, said this one was the cheapest so far. We then headed up to the Best Buy (a grocery store). Grabbed a few things we needed, luckily for us we had made it to the IGA the other day but for the other students it sounds like they hadn't been out yet.

I really had a new appreciation that Kyle and I have been able to settle in so well. When talking to some of the other students, it sounds like they had a tougher time getting to the island, and had a few rough nights without food, so I'm so thankful Kyle and I have found it relatively smooth. It was great to chat to some people, everyone seems really nice and we all seem to understand that we are in the same position.
Here are some pics of our little adventure.

This was just near the the water where the Ferry comes

Walking along the water, so many different flags!

Made sure to get the Canadian flag in the background :)

It's hard to tell, but the little black specs near the water are crabs!! It was also very smelly walking by there haha

The group at Seafood Madness

Delicious Fish and Chips

The other students who are living in the dorms don't have Internet yet so I'm feeling blessed that I can write this blog and keep you guys updated :)

My next post is about Orientation Day...pretty interesting day that was, check it out.

Beach Day!

Hello Friends!

I hope everyone is having a great 2015 so far!

I know many of you are getting hit with some snow right now, so I thought it would be a great idea to post about our first beach day! Haha...sorry, I couldn't resist. My sister sent me a pic today, and I really don't miss it all. :)

You are welcome to come visit anytime!

First off, thank you so much for your amazing support with my blog so far. I have received so many awesome comments from friends and family, it's been great to hear your feedback! I'm glad that we can stay connected.

So yesterday, Kyle and I decided to try and find a beach. By looking at the maps online, Google says there is one close to the school that we should be able to walk to it, and when we talked to some locals they said it's only about 20 min. Perfect! We packed up a bag, water, snacks, and towels. Loaded up with sunscreen, and headed out.Well...about 30 min later we saw a sign for Herbet's Beach. Yay! It was hot, and I was ready for some sand and water. There was a long path that took us to the beach, and we were met with a nice breeze, and some rocks... There was some sandy parts, but it just wasn't what I was expecting. I wanted to find a place that I could easily get to on my own and do my reading for school in a pretty comfortable spot. However, people were in the water, and the view was still breath taking.

Our first Beach Pic! Yay...hopefully my tan will be better in the next one! :)

We decided to walk up the beach a bit to see if we could find another beach called Nisbet Beach. Apparently a lot of the students hang out there and they have a restaurant that is open to the public. It is a resort as well, so I was hoping this beach would be a bit nicer.

It wasn't a far walk to that beach and there was a lot more sand! Yipee!! We found a place in the sand and put our towel down and hung out for a bit. My goodness!! So awesome, toes in the sand, just relaxing. I could definitely picture myself here ready a textbook and what not. It was a far walk, and Kyle reminded me to drink lots of water and bring extra because it was quite warm. (Not complaining though, I love the heat!) There was a restaurant, but we didn't end up eating there, we just wanted to check out the location first, get used to the proper beach protocol fist. There were some beach chairs, but again, not sure if we are allowed to use them or if it's just for the resort members. Here are a few pics.

Kyle just relaxing before he has to hit the books!

This is the view from behind the beach

I could get used to this

Beach selfie!! (With some crazy hair)

Once we decided it was time to walk back home, we had a long walk ahead of us so Kyle and I took a few minutes in front of the resort brushing off our feet because we had sand everywhere and it would be an uncomfortable walk home. However just as we were finishing up, a bus stopped by and asked if we needed a ride. Thank goodness! (I wasn't really looking forward to the 40 min walk back home) So we hopped in. First time I have been on a bus and he stops at a gas station to fill up. Haha I love it. We were a little confused on how much to pay the guy, it was only about a 5 min bus ride home, and when Kyle asked how much, he had said 5 EC, but then saw Kyle had an extra dollar and kinda gave him a look like "yeah I'll take that too." So we did, but Kyle was very confused on how much we need to pay the drivers. It will take some getting used to I guess. We will have to clarify more I suppose, is that 5 for each, or for one? We will have to talk to some other students and see what they say.

All in all, I would say it was a successful beach day! I feel comfortable enough to go to the beach alone while Kyle is in class, and I'm hoping to meet people as well who will go along with me. When we went to bed that night, Kyle saw on the Facebook group for MUA January 2015 that someone had posted asking if anyone wanted to go to Nisbet Beach just around the time we got back. We had just missed that! Oh well, another time hopefully!

I made fajitas for dinner, yum yum!

Today we went for a walk up the hill from our place a little bit. Kyle had read about a church that might be good for us, so we thought we would see how long of a walk it was. It only took about 10 min and on the way we met some locals who were all very friendly and greeted us by saying "Good afternoon". Even some of the kids, it was so cute! So I have to give a shout out to my mom who told us that before we left, and Kyle has become very good at saying that to people we meet. It does take some getting used to that's for sure. Here is a pic from our walk. Kyle says people will think it looks like Hamilton, haha but it's still nice.

So we still have yet to meet some other students, we have seen a few people come and go to our building, it's just hard to make that initial introduction. However Kyle found out that I'm allowed to attend his orientation on Monday, so hopefully then! I'll keep you posted for sure!!

Thanks again for your awesome feedback! Miss you!!

Grocery Shopping Day!

New Years Eve

We were up at 10 and Charlene and her driver picked us up. Kyle asked about shipping items and where we would go to pick them up so Charlene said we will go to the port to see if it was there. Thank goodness Charlene was with us! She knew the right people to talk to. Jeff was our broker, it was a confusing process, you had to get the forms from the office, speak to a broker who then gave you another form to take to the warehouse, then you have to find your stuff, and wait for the customs officer to look through it. He gives you another form and you give that back to the broker who goes and figures out how much duty you owe. It was all okay until waiting for the amount we needed to pay. That took awhile, but Charlene was awesome and helped get people moving, and we ended up only having to pay 20 dollars US. We loaded up our tubs and headed to the grocery store. We went to an IGA. We ended up spending around 350 EC. Chicken was actually very cheap compared to Canada, Kyle and I hadn't eaten much so we bought some pre- cooked chicken and it tasted great. The selection of fresh fruits and veggies was not that great so I'm curious to see where the market will be and what it will look like. But I have to say I'm so proud of Kyle for sticking through the day without eating much. We got home and ate some lunch and then unpacked the bins. It was awesome that all of our stuff was here. After that we kinda just hung out at home.
Charlene mentioned that more students will be arriving in the next couple of days so hopefully we will be able to meet some people over the weekend. We are both pretty exhausted and took it easy. It was New Years Eve, so I looked up some activities around Nevis, but it was all happening in Charlestown. And since we didn't have any phones yet we couldn't call for a cab. I made it until midnight but couldn't stay up and watch the ball drop in New York (Nevis is an hour ahead of Toronto).
First time ever that I have missed that! Hopefully over the weekend we will make it to a beach! I'll be sure to keep you updated on that!!
This pic is from behind the school, which is right across the street from where our apartment is

First home cooked meal on Nevis!

This shot is from our back porch. You can see the ocean, I love it!

Happy New Year Everyone!

Day 2 of Travelling

So we were up bright an early for the next phase of our trip. Miami to St. Kitts.

Checking in took a long time. We waited in line for 30 min, couldn't check in, waited in a different line for another 30 min, then got to the counter for our bags luckily we didn't have to pay again however something was wrong and Johne (the helpful American Airline guy) couldn't print luggage tags for us, so we waited for his manager who was useless, then we had to get the different manager who was more helpful. Total time to process and go through security was 2 hrs. Of course our gate was the furthest away so we had to take the sky train and we just made it on the plane with 20 min to spare. However we were rewarded by having no one sit beside us so Kyle has a lot of extra room for this flight! Yipee. Kyle and I did talk about it and said that it was worth it though waiting in line for so long so we didn't have to pay for bags again. I would do that again, it saved us $150.
Our next step is making sure someone gets us from the airport and that our bags arrive safely. Oh and we get into our apartment okay.
Once we landed, stepping off the plane and into the warm breeze, I was over come by emotion, the heat which I loved, and I started to get more excited. We had no trouble getting through customs and all of our bags arrived safely!!
We stepped outside and someone was there with a sign for MUA STUDENTS.

Really helpful people: Daisy, who drove us from the airport to the boat on St. Kitts. Vincent drove the boat to Nevis. And Charlene (Ahousing coordinator for MUA) picked us up and took us to our apartment. On the way we saw a monkey and the beautiful island and scenery. Cloudy today but the weather was awesome and everyone was very helpful.
Made it to the apartment and Janice helped us out, the landlord. Super sweet. Everything was ready, the bed even came with sheets and she had toilet paper in the washroom- one thing I forgot was hand soap so we are using sanitizer for now.
I couldn't believe how smoothly everything went from the time we stepped off the plane to when we entered our apartment. We took the water taxi instead of the ferry which I would recommend because it only took about 15 minutes to cross over to Nevis, and with having our luggage and wanting to get there in daylight we thought it was the best option. Daisy called Vincent and made sure he waited for us and because the boat was full, we had to only pay $20 US each for the ride. Make sure to carry some US cash and some EC cash to have when you arrive on the island.
Charlene picked us up and we got to see the island a bit on our way to the apartment.
Unfortunately we had no way to get to a grocery store, but Charlene said she was going to pick us up tomorrow and take us to one. So tonight's dinner we shared a salad from the airplane and some chocolate. I would recommend grabbing some food from the airport for your dinner, but since we were almost late getting on the plane we didn't have time for that. We managed to unpack all of our suitcases and get settled. The bedroom is very big with a nice wardrobe for our clothes and a dresser. The kitchen has a toaster oven and a coffee maker but it is super tiny. Like fit one slice of toast tiny. Oh well. The previous owner left some textbooks so hopefully Kyle can use them.
And there were hangers! Which I wasn't expecting. I'm laying in bed right now and I can hear the ocean outside... Now that's awesome.
I'm exhausted, we will see what tomorrow brings ...hopefully some food.

Here are some photos from the plane ride.
